I am looking into a transmitter and receiver to get rid of my sinc cord. Can anyone recommend a good product to buy for a D100 ?

Mike

Pocket Wizards are the cats meow! Pocket Wizards at Adorama.com

I don't know anyone who doesn't love theirs. You can also find them on eBay.

This ties into my post just before yours. I am not happy with the way my Wein sync is going, so I may be doing exactly what you are doing: the transmitter route. I know several photographers who use them, and are very happy to be rid of the extra cord laying on the studio floor, and they are happy with the performance. One friend is a part-time wedding photographer who uses the Pocket Wizard product, and is very happy with it. I borrowed it once, and it worked every time. So a Pocket Wizard may be in my future. Also, I haven't found too many companies making such products, so not many to choose from.

My sync cords have a 1/4 inch plug that go's into my JTL mono lights. I did not see a cord like that for the pocket wizards. Do they make one for JTL lights ?

if you mean that your JTL's use a 1/4 headphone jack them you have no worries. The PW's use a miniphone headphone jack. You can get miniphone to 1/4 plug cords at Radio Shack for $3.49 than work just as well as the ones that Paramount sells for $17.99 or if you can solder you can make your own for $1.50-2.oo each depending on the quality of the materials.

most strobes that use the 1/4 headphone jack use the Mono type plug BTW.

I'm coming in late on this but I do like the Wein PS-500. It is a single channel unit and if I remember correctly it is under $200.00. I believe it uses an infra-red triggering system but in 3 years of heavy usage it has never mis-fired or otherwise let me down and this includes some shoots with close to 250 images. B&H Photo Video has them. Good luck.
