I see many fashion shots with very cool bright color. (I'm new to studio lighting and wondering what type of lighting is used for these. Outside of changing the color in Photoshop, how, in general, do they get such bright color without blow-outs.

Thanks

Steve

Without an example of "cool bright color" I can only guess what type of lighting you're interested in. I shot the model below against jet black seamless paper - using one strobe with a yellow gel over it to give me the yellow background color. Using black paper and gels, I can achieve almost any color. If this is not what you asked, post a sample for us to disect.

Thanks for the reply! I'm also in Flower Mound. Just moved here from Los Angeles. Cool.
I'm not sure how to attach a pic. Here's Markus Klinko's site. Many of his images have that bright white look I can't quite articulate.

Take Care

He's a great photographer. Which of the shots are you referring?

That was a nice photo you had in your reply.
Klinko's 'Beyonce' shots in first screen have that look. I think a more pronounced example is at http://www.skyysport.com. (click the bubble that says 'skyy sport'. The pics of the boxer and of the snowboard girl have that look. It might start with blue filters.

Have a Great Weekend

first of all, they're two people (markus klinko AND indrani), not just one person. second, none of that is done in-camera or at the time of exposure. all of it is done post-process. indrani is a pro-retoucher. i wish i had a partner who was a pro retoucher.
