I thought I would share this idea with GG'ers... Couldn't think of what else to call this idea so I settled on mobi-folio..

I recently purchased a Sony Clie' TJ-27 because I got tired of dealing with not having my calendar and contacts with me on the road. As a side benefit, I figured out I could upload photos to the PDA so I would have a compact mobile portfolio. The display is really great on this PDA so I'm not sacrificing much on image quality.

The basic idea is to have one memory card with portraits, art, and glamour images when talking to potential models. Another memory card would hold all the "kid-safe" images such as commercial images, portraits, and band photos.

As a test I uploaded 245 images to a 64MB card and still have 28MB free. The cards can store all kinds of other info including mileage logs and other documents along with the images.. Plus you can use them to back up the PDA since this model has 32MB max internally.

Yes, this could all be done with a laptop but in my case a laptop extreme overkill..

Later,
Israel

Ah...technology! What did we ever do before we could be in complete contact with the world at all times, download photos from our digital cameras to a keychain, take a snapshot...heck now a movie...with our cell phone and e-mail it to all our friends and families, then text message them to check their e-mail from Starbucks wireless LAN?

We probably slep a lot more!

Clever idea though!

good idea.

when i had my B&W darkroom, whenever i would print the pixs selected by my clients, when i did THEIR wallet-sized pixs, i would make one for me too as a mini-portfolio.

by time i quit B&W last year, i had three separate wallet-sized mini-portfolios. now that i'm going digital, will do the same.

advantages?? very tiny, requires little if any space, and doesnt require batteries.

cant be stored in a PDA....

Israel,

After I read this post I got to thinking I print a lot less now. I have images on 2 sites and I attach images a lot to friends and relatives. Prior, nobody ever saw my photography until I either printed myself or paid to have the lab produce my images. Maybe with the money I save I can really afford that D70!

Working on something similar. Interactive QuickTime portfolios, on bus card CD.

I love technology...
