How I miss the larger viewfinder of my EOS 5... I have the same problems with the 10D viewfinder being too small. One thing that has helped me focus is faster glass. It's alot easier to focus with the EF 85 f/1.8. Other than that, I could probably use some additional dioptric correction as well.

I use a focusing loupe on the groundglass when I shoot 4x5. On my other cameras I have the diopters on the eyepieces set so when it looks in focus, it is in focus.

Never used something like that on anything less than large format. The thing to keep in mind is that because you will lose viewfinder coverage, it best to use magnification for fine focus once the shot's composed. That's easy to do with when the format and the subject matter are static. Not so easy when they're not.

It's funny... I actually take my glasses off when I shoot... but I can't see squat when I am looking across the street.. Canon and Nikon both make magnifiers..... I'm familiar with Canon't which magnifies only the center of the frame which aren't all that helpful when shooting some subject in the corners..
