I have noticed there are many companys that make folding reflectors for lets say a beach type of shoot. Maybe one side white and the other side gold. Is there a big diference between the products of the companeys that make them ? If so what should I look for in a reflector for outside shoots ?

Yes, there is, and the difference is quality of manufacture. Good ones are easy to set up, easy to tear down, and can withstand many cycles of setup/teardown. They're also more uniform and have better reflectivity. Cheap ones aren't made as precisely and can be sloppy or so tight you can't get them straight, and start to rip at stress points after comparatively few uses.

I have some nice ones made by Calumet which I wouldn't hesitate to recommend. I'm sure others have their personal favorites as well.

Well,.....good question... I'd like to find that out myself..

I have used Photoflex in the past... now I just like to use Wescott I persolally think Wescott's equipment is better suited for location work...especially with the hardware that comes with them.. You will want to have your equipment able to work....and not break on you....and having to replace it again.. wasteing time, money and your lighting on the shoot that you spent a ton of time getting ready for..

I don't know how their reflective surface is when compared side by side in a controlled environment....if someone has info on that, that would be helpful for those of us who haven't made our minds up already..

Have fun with them!
