Re: d-700 upgrade

I have a D300, and my friend has a D700, and the thing that I noticed is how much better his shots are whenever we are in a low light situation. Having the larger sensor allows more photons/pixel,...

Re: Silhouettes for Critique

I'm with everyone else, I like photo number 2 the best. It is sort of a classic pose, but I guess that is why it is a classic . . . because it is attractive.

Re: My third photo shoot - critique please

I think that you did a good job!

I will cast my vote with the hair light being a little too hot, and the single strand of hair across her left eye being a distraction. I actually like the main...

Re: Four more of Nicole

My favorite is the parasol shot (#4), but all of the shots are really nicely done

I like the soft lighting and beautiful skin tones on #4.

Re: Another hot model - life doesn't suck!

Marty, those are all fantastic shots!

You have improved so much in the years that I've been on here looking at your stuff.

Congratulations!!

Now, for my one critique. I'm not a fan of a...

Re: Some Sunrise attempts

I happen to really like the first shot.

Very nice!

At first I didn't really care for the cliff in the left side of the photo, but after looking at it some more I realize that it does offer some...

Re: Phototherapy, Posing naked for a women’s magazine...

Well said Doug!

I too have seen women come alive just to be in front of a camera and to be told by someone that they are beautiful. It changes the photo shoot, for both the model and for the...

Re: New Molly shots

Yes, I think the that increase in the contrast makes it a better photo with more 'pop' to it. And I don't have a problem with the photo being sideways in that it makes it more attention getting.

Re: New Molly shots

I'd go with her choice!

I do agree that a little more contrast could help spark it up a little . . . well, on second thought, it isn't the general contrast that needs tweaking but maybe the...

Re: Blond beauty

I really like #2, the back lighting of the sun on her hair but then having a nicely done fill flash is really nice.

The only change that I would have made to #3 is so have had a shallower depth of...

Re: Auto focus or manual focus???

Yes, talking about focusing 1/3 of the way into a scene, I didn't realize until I was shooting some test shots on my lenses that the 'in focus' area is not a distance but is a ratio. In other words,...

Re: Yeah! Harley Davidson poster is a hit!

Geez Marty, those are just GREAT shots!!

You made me laugh out loud about the mechanics and their cell phone cameras. But I'm sure a sight such as there was there doesn't happen often.

Re: Joy - 3 images

I really like your shots, especially #1.

The 3rd shot, with her leaning against the rails, would have been better in my opinion with a lot shallower depth of field in order to remove so much...

Re: Little Jo and her Incredible Eyes

I agree about her having beautiful eyes and she has a really nice shape.

I like the 1st photo of her resting against the wall and also the 4th one, that you attached later, of her on a rock. ...

Nice shot and a very pretty model.

That works out to be a good combination!

Re: There's something about Mary

The wonderful thing about opinions, everyone has one . . . including me I guess.

I'd had gone with a shallower depth of field.

IMHO

Re: New Discovery - Michia

I think that you did a great job of photographing her and I think that she did a great job of looking absolutely beuatiful. This other photographer was a dufus! But that worked out good for you.

Re: Nikon VR lenses,,, WHAT THE....!!!

Just a thought, but make SURE that the VR is turned 'on'.

Another thought is that the VR may possibly not be working (broken), you should be able to visually see a difference when you have the VR...

This may not be much help, but I'm shooting a wedding in Marietta, Ga, in June.

Are you interested?

Re: In-studio light adjustment

You may already have your answer but I thought that I'd throw in a bit of trivia.

If you don't have a F-stop chart in front of you, you can compute F-stops by two simple numbers: 1 and 1.4. All...

Re: Thoughts, ideas, critiques please ;)

Interesting and unique shot !!

I like it . . . a lot !

The only critique that I'd give is that I'd probably darken the lips a little bit because of the inbalance of so much light in the bottom...
