Great colors in both. The contrast of the dress against the dark background is stunning. I prefer the first as the second the pose seems a little awkward, plus I love eye contact.

You'll always be better with a manufacturer made flash. I have an SB-800 and an SB-600 and prefer them both. They will work together with the Nikon Creative Lighting System...

Surprisingly enough, Flickr gives a TON of info on the shooting details. I use Lightroom for my workflow and that seems to be give pretty decent info.
