Re: Portable light advice & Hensel vs. Elinchrom

1 - The Hensel Integra Pro Plus monolights have a built in radio receiver and the kit comes with the hotshoe unit for your camera. You might still want a single pocket wizard transceiver if you're...

Re: Trying to help my friend become a model..

While I won't defend OMP or dispute a word of what you said, some of the same things could be said of GarageGlamour...

Now when is that new software rolling out? [said with tongue firmly in cheek]

Re: Humor For The Day

I know several shooters who could put 99% of members here, myself included, to shame with a camera phone. I would laugh less at the gear and more at the quality of the 'models' and the 'shooting...

Matthews Grip Equipment. No more need be said.

I don't trust my Hensel monolights on any other stand....

The Well Tattooed Stephanie Gunter

Stephanie is married to Billy-Jack Gunter, the owner of Artistic Encounter Tattoo in Dallas and the artist who has done all of my tattoo work. These were shot at my new studio location.

Re: RAW vs JPG? Yep, that's come up again...

I won't disagree with your article, but your example is unfair for the average GG shooter. If I had access to the some of the worlds best makeup artists and the extreme pick of the litter models, I'd...

Re: Soft box for AlienBees

Alien Bee lights use the Balcar style speed ring system. Easily found at many fine online establishments.

Or deal with Paul Buff directly as others have pointed out.

Re: Time For A Change

The G series Power Macs are quite old and still use the IBM risc processor. What you want is the Mac Pro. I just bought a used dual quad core 3.0GHz Xeon based system with 8GB of RAM for $1350. I now...

Re: d-700 upgrade

I don't need to Google anything. I've owned my D3 since launch day. Perhaps you're confused by the earlier D200 bodies underexposing by 1/3 to 2/3 of a stop? Try Googling that one. As for being...

Re: d-700 upgrade

You can't be serious. The D3 optimized for ISO 6400?

I have made tens of thousands of images with both of the bodies you listed below and I never had issues with the D3 being either hot or yellow...

Re: d-700 upgrade

I moved from a D200 to a D3 (very similar move in terms of sensors) and for portrait photography, the 24x36mm sensor is a joy to work with. Be aware that the native ISO of the D700 sensor is ISO 200...

Re: Are You Over-Geeking Your Photography?

I am proud to be an uber-geek. Even if my images suck because of it.

Re: A Challenge to All Photographers...

How about I just put the 120 film back on my H2 and shoot some nice T-Max B&W film. Or for glamour perhaps the Astia chrome would be a better choice...

Actually I already have that planned for...

When and if the management here decides to roll out the new software, I'll see what's up and try to post more. Until then, why?

I don't blame Rolando at all. This site is most likely now his...

Re: one vs multiple lenses

I use my 70-200mm at 105mm, 135mm, and between 180-200mm all the time for headshots. Primarily men at the shorter focal lengths, and the ladies get the longer end of the spectrum. It's all about the...

Re: Good, low-cost light meter?

Take a look at the Sekonic 308S. It's a solid basic meter. I used one for a year plus before upgrading to the 358, then finally to the 558 that I use today.

Re: one vs multiple lenses

Personally I feel that the lenses that cover such a wide range of focal lengths are useful for snapshots, but not much else. They compromise so many design criteria simply for convenience. I shoot...

Re: How many of us are *true* weekend photogs?

I currently derive zero income from photography. In the past perhaps maybe as much as 1% of my income was from side photography jobs. I would think that I qualify as a weekend warrior. Of course...

Re: Photography as a Profession: Its Future

The 'full time photographer' comment is to distinguish between the 'stealer of business' (aka, the part timer) and the 'pro'. They should charge what ever they feel appropriate, but that's a totally...
