Re: Outdoor ambient and strobe

Your balance of flash and ambient is just about perfect, maybe just a tad on the high side. I try to have the strobe not contribute more than 15-20% tops.

Re: Brand of camera?

It is not so much what camera you use, but what you do with the camera you have. Often people get so wrapped up in the equipment side of the house, that they forget that the camera is only a...

Re: On The Farm...

I find the wheat in the foreground to be a little too obtrusive personally and the colors, reds and yellows, somewhat oversaturated. It's just personal preference, but I think her chin is dipped a...

Re: Rural fashion image

A few things come to mind. In the first one, the building in the background is very distracting. A slight change in position could have removed it from the frame. I also think it would have worked...

Something I saw on the web the other day about burned CD\'s.......

we all consider CD's to be permanent. The ones that you buy (music/software) that are not burned into a dye layer are.

The ones that we burn onto CD's will degrade with time, believe it or not....

Lens fungus........

The kind that even liberal amounts of Lotriman won't fix either.

I have developed some lens fungus on some rear elements of an old (non-AI) 50mm f/1.4 Nikkor. The local camera repair guy removed...

Been using a Minolta Flashmeter IV for a number of years.......

and it has never failed me. I use it as my primary incident meter as well. It is a little complicated to use at first but there is nothing I need it to do it cannot do perfectly.

They can be found...

Nope, never tried it...........

But would also be interested to see how it stacks up to VPS III. I loved the skin tones with the original Vericolor.

I will second the emotions on VPS...............

I always loved VPS III Professional. My only gripe (and this was just for 35mm) is that the grain would become a little pronounced if you blew it past 11x14 or cropped an image to 11x14. A mild...

Simulating diffusion filters with PhotoShop

I am still relatively inexperienced with PhotoShop. Is there a way to simulate shooting through a diffusion filter? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Re: Indoor lighting question.

That's one of the great things about this, you can always improvise! I use Softboxes for studio work but in the field have made gobo's out of PVC pipe and white sheets. The nice thing about making...

Re: The Zone System and Digital

I am sure it has it's applications but like most comparisions between digital and film photography, digital still comes up a little short. AA always taught, expose for the shadows and develop for the...
