Somehow though, it doesn't look quite the same to me. What were those charts they included with film and paper tech specs? Characteristic curves? Like Tri-X has that nice...

I don't know. There's lots of different sensor arrays. Is it a significant difference from a whole generation of photographers shooting Tri-X and HP5? Maybe not on the web. Maybe so in an Aperture...

I would not go so far. I'm not anti-digital, not anti-technology. I've been in technology since '78, been involved in digital photography since '94 or so. Paid $8000 for a Kodak dye...
