Re: Trade for Prints/CD, what's fair?

It still seems to have merit and applicability.

Re: Studio Size

I think it is too narrow and too short. I am much more comfortable shooting on 12 foot seamless for families and models. I also like a 30 foot through to get enough distance from the background to...

Re: Latifah in lingerie

I think it is a good job overall and a a very beautiful model. The back hand is excellent though the front wrist is at an awkward bend. Great figure.

What "bother's me" is that the shadows look...

Re: TFP/CD or pay?

Again with respect Fred, your interpretation as to what is "practical" is just that, YOUR interpretation. The world is full of different interpretations.

I hire workers some at $8/hr (laborers)...

Re: The "new" pro shooter.

There is a difference between one who "takes" pictures and one who "makes" pictures. A real "Pro" can make a picture and get the job done, regardless of conditions, because they know their equipment...

Re: Greetings from East TN

Hey Artforms,

I think you are comparing apples and oranges here. Your image has some top/back lighting and his is shot from under an over hang. If he exposed brighter and added more flash ( he...

Re: TFP/CD or pay?

Doug,

While I agree with many of the points you raised here, I think it still overlooks the given of sending only somewhat proven girls out on jobs, not tests. Sure they send the beginners, but...

Re: TFP/CD or pay?

Doug,

I think the point you may be missing is that an agency will not send out a green model to a big job. They have already been schooled and tested with local photographers before they are...

Re: TFP/CD or pay?

With respect Fred:

TF doesn't mean free. It means fair value. A models contribution is only one part of the whole picture, so even if I sell the print for $200, if $20 made them happy on shoot...

Re: Flash system

Paul Buff Ultra lights are really pretty good. I expect you won't get 20 years out of them, but they are easily repaired, have an excellent warranty and lots of features like 5 stop, step less,...

Re: TFP/CD or pay?

The internet and MM and the like have changed the perception of a whole group of people to think that models are to be photographed by themselves. It used to be the model was window dressing to...

Re: A question about “Glamorous” Portraits

In all seriousness, do you project your images at the sales meeting? Do you have large tasteful enlargements on your studio wall? If not, this is why you aren't selling them.

Do you do sexy, but...

Re: A question about “Glamorous” Portraits

:) Don't think of it as lowering your standards, just providing excellent customer service.

Shoot some their way and some your way. Let them buy what they want. I have found that, if I offer...

Re: A question about “Glamorous” Portraits

If a paying client wanted to be photographed in caution tape, I would do it. The job is getting the money from their wallet to where it belongs, in MY wallet. Now would I enter that image in print...

Re: Advice for Photographing Bodybuilding Contest

A better suggestion would be to set the camera on a specific Kelvin temperature and keep it there. Then adjust in post. I can usually get a Whi-Bal card in the scene before and event happens if I am...
