But doesn't the photo look like the commands on your DVD player remote?
Looking again I see that it is studs but the way the light hits them they look like play, pause, forward, rewind, etc......

DIY or purchase, to me everything is time or money. If you have the skill (flash heads excluded) you can DIY pretty much anything. No doubt you can make a 48" softbox from home depot/ the fabric...

believe it or not, the rule of thirds actually works. Decide if its a landscape shot or a portrait shot if its landscape you need to show more landscape let the model stand about a third of the way...

The dealer where I bought the lights is a friend. She called JTL and gave them a "piece of her mind" and they sent me a shipping label to send the light back for repair.
