Re: Victoria bubble bath

I understand what you are going for in the first photo but I agree with Falcon that the look is just not 'there'. In my mind, on first viewing it, the expression I read is, "Oh yuck" like she's sat...

Hi all, I'm buying a 1D Mark II from a friend and I have some questions...

First of all, what is the maximum capacity of CF and SD cards can I use in this camera? Also what speed should I be...

Re: NIkon and Canon-compare

I've seen very beautiful imagery by photographers using nothing but a Pinhole camera, the ultimate in simplicity. I've also seen crappy images by photographers who have the latest and most expensive...

Damn, it's quiet around here!

Just saying. :(

Maybe everyone has gone through all their images from last year and are just getting ready for Spring with its warmer weather? After all, there's nothing more miserable than a...

Re: NIkon and Canon-compare

Hmmm, if you already have the 5Dmk2 why are you looking at Nikon? This is not to bash Nikon but you have a really decent camera already.

Remember that it's not what you have it's what you do with...

Re: NIK Software?

I would guess that the decision really relies upon which program you use the most...LR or PS.

Re: On the Street approaches...works?

Yes, I'm sure that having that Press Pass gives you a significant advantage...a perceived legitimacy that passing over a basic business card has less of. I also suppose that you have your gear with...

Re: Need help with Lightroom 3!

Open LR without plugging in...

File>Auto Import>Auto Import Settings>unclick Enable Auto Import

That should do the trick. Auto Import is enabled by default.

Any GG members from Hawaii?

Sara (in my port here) is going there on a vacation mid month. She talked about looking for a photog in the Honolulu (pardon my spelling) area. I figured I'd post here to see if anyone is interested?

Re: Looking for the $1.99 black scarf

While this technique that Rolando writes about (I take it you read that here on GG?) is some years old I think you'd be best to look at this as a Suggestion instead of Requirement. On at least one...

Re: The Passing Of A Legend

Oh my goodness...I had had an opportunity to once get a most positive remark from him on one of my images. I was honored. He will be missed. :(

Re: On the Street approaches...works?

DaveB...while I agree with the vast majority of what you suggest I do have an issue with using the word "honor" or "honored"...at least in this circumstance. To me this would sound too 'needy' or...

Re: On the Street approaches...works?

You would think, that with the anonymity of the Internet and the lack of pressure for the subject to *have* to view a portfolio book/prints then and there, this type of approach would be a good idea....

Re: On the Street approaches...works?

This is what I was not hoping for. It looks like this type of approach is just too creepy even if the intention was not. So I guess either no one has tried this at all or has not had any results...

Re: On the Street approaches...works?

Nearly a hundred viewings of this topic and no responses? Does this mean that no one has tried this?

Re: Why No to Free Photography Means No

Well, if you are going to 'lift' from another then so will I.

I take some umbrage to the following. Perhaps I'm taking this out of context somewhat but with this kind of attitude it's little...

On the Street approaches...works?

Just out of curiousity, have any of the GG people tried a 'on the street' approach? You hand out a card stating that you are interested in photographing the subject for 'xyz' reason, etc.

Re: Adobe Lightroom

Normally Adobe will announce or request Beta testers...haven't seen anything for 4.
What I have seen is a Release Candidate for version 3.5 so that isn't final either.

I think it will be a while...
