Re: What is glamour photography?

Just for fun I looked up the etymology of glamour (at http://www.etymonline.com/index.php?search=glamour&searchmode=none):

glamour
1720, "magic, enchantment" (especially in phrase to cast the...

Re: hi guys...

Chung! Hey man, that 20d you sold me is still goin strong even after 16 weddings, 8 "group shoots", and at least as many single model shoots. I'm hoping it lasts until Canon puts sensor cleaning in...

Re: Strip reflector on a tripod

Use ankle weights, you can wrap them around the base of the stand and then around the stand entirely when you fold the legs up for transportation.

Re: Anyone subscribe to GirlFiles? Nigel Holmes' site?

Hmmm, don't know that I can give it a 1-10, but yes the ebooks are available only in parts and it takes about 3 months to get all the parts. The rest of the site's content is interesting, dunno if...

Re: The light and airy fashiony glamour feel

I know, I was trying to be helpful, not a smart ass. Hard to tell with me sometimes so I've been told. ;) Specially on the internets. You could ask RG but I think he'd order a bunch for his own...

Re: The light and airy fashiony glamour feel

Yes I am focussing on the eyes, then recomposing. And that image was shot rather wide. Good tips! Unfortunately I don't shoot raw (add on that sRGB to boot! :)). That in and of itself is it's own...

Re: The light and airy fashiony glamour feel

RFS: The bruise is easy enough to clone out, It'll be gone in a little while. I agree that the silver pipe is sharper than her eyes. This could be for a couple of reasons. One the pipe is in...

The light and airy fashiony glamour feel

http://www.aaaarrrgggggg.com/pics/IMG_4425.jpg

Took this at a group shoot. Didn't kow what I'd run into. Made this image by over exposing a LOT, had a gold reflector camera right and I bounced a...

Re: Anna Nicole Smith found dead

It's not just the money. Lets face it, Anna chased the spotlight. Playboy, marrying a REALLY old quabillionaire, the TV show, supreme court case, Trimspa, she wanted attention. None of that would...

Re: RG's Seminar @ Samy's in LA

Considering it was only $20 and you got to meet Rolando i'd say it was a steal too. I know I've had my fair share of complaints about the changes on this site as well as dishing what I percieved as...

Re: True WS vs Effective WS ... What????

I think you meant guide number (GN). Capacitors and voltage effect wattseconds, not reflectors.

Re: The problem as I see it.

Yes, but we know how guide numbers can be manipulated. We know what drawbacks are in wattseconds.

I just wanted to point out in your second paragraph that the difference between F16 and F8 is...

Re: Rolando Gomez Workshops

I'm going to give you the good and the bad on the one I went to a while ago and hope I don't offend anyone in the process. The workshop I attended was in August of 2004 in Coatesville/Philly

I'll...

The problem as I see it.

Guide numbers can be fudged with reflectors and routinely are. Even Canon uses the guide number reflector trick by naming and placing first the guide number at the longest zoom. Hence the GN for...

Re: Lighting Equipment Suggestion

I whole heartedly agree. I thought I could scoot by with cheapy Smith Victor stands. Because what the heck I mean the'll make the lights resist gravity as much as the next stand, right? Nope Last...

Re: More Soft Experiments

I wasn't offended by your remarks, I was by RHWeiner's which initially amounted to "Soft eyes so it sucks." Sorry if I didn't make that clear.

It sounded more like you were talking down to me than about the image, but these things are always hard to gauge in writing. The tone of both your comments is discouraging, I dislike that...

Re: More Soft Experiments

Yeah, yeah, I know. This is one of those instances when it's very hard to do that. The point of focus was her eyes, but the vignette softens as well as darkens. This makes it difficult to judge...

Re: More Soft Experiments

I thought you'd kinda like this one, I kept thinking about yours and Rolando's setups where there are more lights from behind than in front of the model. :) Usually I had been putting a backlight on...

More Soft Experiments

The goal of this setup was to capture the warm/soft look I associate with the 1970's. Setup was a 5' octodome camera right, a gridded strip behind her camera right just to add an outline (no...

Re: A soft experiment ...

Ok I don't mean to highjack a thread here, so the one on the left, though it doesn't look that soft to me. The one on the right looks like a PS attempt to mimmick a lensbaby. I (think I) was the...
