Ok, this is my second post today to this forum. This was shot a while back but is the first time I've had the opportunity to submit it to public comment. I would very much like to have constructive criticism on it. Remember if you have something negative to say that's fine but please add what you would do to correct the problem. It's the best way to learn and grow.

Thanks

As beautiful as your model is, she is competing against the yucca flower. The flower takes up half the image viewing area, it is a bright object (white and yellow) and it is in the upper left quadrant so it demands the viewer's eye first. She would have been fine without the flower or the flower could have been behind but only take up less than 20% of the viewing area. Keep posting man, you are headed down the right road. I agree about the dominance of the plant. It is too much. But that aside, there is also the problem in the background of the small white object above her head. This is distracting and could easily be cloned out. I also think the white wrist item is out of place in this shot.
Cheers,
rfs

The blooming century (or flower) appears to be in front of the model. I think it would be better as a background element. As a model I think (that especially in a nude shot) the model should be the subject not the century plant.

I agree with everything everyone said about the flower. Sooooooooo... go back (if you can) and reshoot the pic with her standing IN FRONT of the Yucca. Maybe lower the perspective by having her stand somewhat further from (but in front of) the plant and lower yourself to make the shot. Just an idea.

Keep shooting and keep sharing. Thanks.

I'd like to thank everyone for their comments. In most western countries the eye reads from top to bottom and from left to right. So I do see what you're saying about the flower being too much of a focus in the composition. When I took this photograph the beauty of it was the interaction of the model with the flower. The model being nude or natural and the strong natural element of the flower seemed to fit. I very much liked the peaceful mood of the entire composition.

Since posting it and viewing the comments I've been thinking about it and here are my thoughts. The underlying tone of the composition is the models interaction with the flower. If I place the model in front of the flower that interaction is lost and there is no further point to the flower being there at all.

I wonder if cropping the image so some of the flower on the left is lost along with some of the greenery over her head would bring more of the focus back to the model?

I can also Photoshop out that white reflection just over her head. I agree with Fredrick that it is annoying.
