Here are a few from a session last week. Comments are welcome. What would you have done different?

Model is Brittany M

Great images Mark, normally I am not a fan of tattoos and will not come within 100 miles of a model who has them but this tattoo was very well executed and looks great.

I also like the second image and the "mirror" effect you pulled off with the model. Good job!

There is a line of some kind going above and accross the models right wrist on the second photo, almost like a tan line but it carries on to the flooring as a gray shadow. Too much white space around the model and dead or empty space at the bottom. Try shooting at a lower angle so that you can crop in tighter which will get her reflection closer to her and possibly fit as a horizontal format rather than the vertical version. First one is ok, just not sure if she is wearing black pants or has something wrapped around her.

Thanks Dave, I used to feel the same way about tattoos, but it is becoming nearly impossible to find models without them. So now I'm actively look for models with them. I guess I'm kind of documenting the cultural phenomenon.

Good call on the reflection photo Jim, I didn't catch the line. I think it is a hot spot from a reflector I had setting off to camera left. I'll check the other images from the shoot. Or I may have accidentally hit her hand and forearm with the dodge tool? I agree that this would probably look better in a horizontal format. The first image, has some black fabric wrapped around her waist.

I'm not sure if I like #2 or not, but I like the ligbhting and choice of background in #1. Good job.

Seriously nice ink.
What would I have done differently?
Most likely, I probably would have screwed it up. You done real good.

Maybe have the model oil up - the oil adds a bit of intensity to the color. But the sheen of the oil can be difficult to handle.
I have a bit of a problem with the intensity and detail visible in the background - maybe give it lower light by a stop or two, to darken it, make it more like her skirt - but not quite so black. Or maybe - if possible - have her use a skirt more like the background.

Second shot - you done really real good.

Thanks for sharing.

Nice job!
I love #1... It is hard for me to get that much detail in a tattoo without blowing the skin tone in some way. Amazing work...
