Hi and welcome to the site

Pretty girl but it doesn't look sharp.

I like the placement of her with the sun, so the sun creates a rim light, and also keeps the direct light off her face and keeps squinting down. Now take it one step farther and bounce some light back on to her front. Reflector, works great, but hell, even a piece of white styrofoam will work. This takes care of that muddy shadow look when the back is to the sun. I am including a shot I did with a strobe. Same principle.

I also agree about the lack of sharpness. What kind of camera and lens?

Composistion works well for me.

Thanks, I can see the difference in the two. I was using a simple Canon Power Shot with the original lens.

With the powershot the original lens is the only lens. You also do not have the ability to focus manually, or change focus points. You are kind of at the mercy of the computer in the camera. In this case the camera appearently thought the wall she is sitting on was the main subject.
