HDR Toning using CS5

most of the hdr images i've seen look like heavy handed editing and overly saturated. there are hot spots on her face that didn't how in the original. i'd suggest being more selective on certain areas or lower the opacity. more fill?

I haven't had much success using HDR toning in CS5, except for non-people images.

I am not sure if HDR toning is worth the time when it comes to images of people. That was the reason for my question, and I was wondering if anyone else has tried it. HDR toning differs from true HDR, since is uses only one image.

Perhaps I should have said it this way in my first post.

So far, the HDR toning effect is totally useless in my opinion, except for non-people images, ........and the image I am snowing is an example of the terrible results I am getting....

Has anyone else tried it and been able to make it work to their satisfaction?
