Well, her eyes certainly are dramatic... a bit too much so for my tastes, but each to his own...

[Just one man's opinion.]

The whole of it doesn't work as cropped. What/who is the subject? Either it's a shot of the girl or it's a shot of the quad and the girl. As shown, the colors and 'busyness' of the quad pulls your eyes away from the girl. Shooting her against that 'clean' background without the quad and it works. Shooting the whole quad with the girl as an accessory works. This cropping doesn't do justice to either shot.

Then the girl... I like the eye makeup and it draws you in but there is more 'flash' in the paint than in her eyes. The pose is nice but pulling down the top would indicate she's trying to hide something but she has shorts on... A bathing suit bottom or panties would have made more sense for the pull.

Pretty girl, nice light, nice background... I know there is only so much we can control and we do what we can with what we have. Depending on the client, the model and what you're there to really shoot, we don't have complete freedom to veer off too far from the 'project'. The shot looks like a close crop of a calendar shoot in order to highlight the girl. Backed up to show both would certainly be worthy of inclusion in such a product but as shown here as a stand alone portrait, it could be better and if given the latitude you wished, I have no doubt that it would be.

Doug,

Like the shot, echo the comments above. One additional thought:

The combination of black top and lighting hides the model's shape. It seems like she has a very nice figure, but there's no shading or highlights on her tank top to suggest her curves; her right arm is next to her body and masks any waistline/hips, and her hair is doing a nice job of minimizing her bust. I like how the pose starts on her lower half, promising a nice S shape, but it didn't finish on the top. Maybe adjust her right arm very slightly to create space and reveal her waist, and a bounce card low and angled up on her right side to give her torso/bust some dimension? You could change the color of her top and leave the lighting alone, and that would probably do the trick, but like the black on black.
