I've had the great pleasure of having some people reach out to me in the past couple of years and be honest and critical of my work, which has only made me better. 2009 is my year to start to reach out to others who are just breaking into this world and want to learn... please take the following comments as they are intended - honest suggestions meant to help you to be better in the future than you are today.

Both of these are terribly over-lit. For decent glamour and nude work to even begin to look good, you need to understand and control the light in the shots. The second one is just blown all over. Take a closer look around here and see what others are doing and how. Learn to use a single light with a reflector or even just a single light, and then start adding another, then another. But in all cases add only one more and learn how to manipulate and understand the impact of that new element before you add another.

Before even diving into lighting however, work on the fine details. Exposure, background, composition and posing will all make or break a photo in a heartbeat. In your first shot, you have bedposts coming out of her head. Check these details and be mindful of them in every shot. Do they add to or take away from the shot (anything coming out of a models head takes away from the shot!).

Glamour and Nude photography is very hard to do well. And worse, it's hard to do in a way that is different from the work that everyone else is doing, so not only do you have to be good, but you have to be different from the rest, or better, if you are to really get noticed.

I know I'm still a long way from some of the people here, but I've been watching and learning for about 3 years, and I hope that some of my thoughts here will help you to learn and grow as a photographer.

Cheers and Keep Shooting.

First, congratulations on having someone to model for you. That is the biggest hurdle!

I concur with BC. There is room for improvement. But, I also remember that beauty is in the eye of the customer, so all our advice is measured with that in mind.

Without repeating what was said, I do notice that her hair looks like it is being blown back so it looks active. Great for the beach, but not for a bed & glamour shot (IMO). The first shot has a lot of white. I think that I would try some post processing to blur out most of it to remove the detail.

In the second one, I agree that it is pretty blown out (maybe that is what you are looking for).
