I am just tossing out ideas. How much space is there in that room? I am about 11 feet from the subject and have about 3 to 4 feet behind the subject. When I use the 28-105MM I am pleased with a head and shoulder, and with a bit of cropping I can get a head shot with no problem, b
ut as I said, I use the 75-200 for tighter head shots.
You have less than 15 feet then in the room you are using?

Is your back against the wall? I have had to do that on occasion, Is there a way you can rearrange the room so you will have a doorway behind you? You can stand just outside the door and gain some room,
As I say, just tossing out ideas that might work in a cramped room.
