I had the pleasure of shooting with a new model last night. Sarah is a lovely, six-foot tall, blue-eyed blonde. We only had two hours to shoot, so I took her out to one of the nearby lakes and discovered that a beautiful sunet looks perfect behind a beautiful model.

Nikon D300 • Nikkor 28-70 • SB-800 speedlight • CS3 (to make the muddy Texas water look more inviting)

Hey Marty, it looks great (both the model and the sunset!). Was that at Lake Grapevine?

Yup. Shot as taken at muddy old Lake Grapevine, TX. Some of us are not blessed with beautiful coastlines ... although lately, those Guld of Mexico coastlines come with a steep price.

As you can see from the before and after shots below, I added some blue to the sky and water and a touch of green to the foreground water. All the modifications were made using the Layer-New Adjustment Layer-Color Balance. Once I had the color I wanted, I painted the color into the various areas. Total process took less than 15 minutes (and yes, I probably colored outside the lines in some areas - my bad!)

Marty its brilliant and looks very natural on my laptop. I just wish I could learn to do all this stuff in PS3. But I think to know all of Photoshop and its tricks is to touch the face of God and become an Ascended Being. lol

Great work.

As I remember, you always have a great talent in PS. You take a great shoot to another level.

Great work Marty. I am glad to see that there are some Star Gate fans on this site although technically it's Zed Point Module. Maybe we should set up an ICM chat off list to talk about our favorite episodes.
