One of the responses I received to my posting of yesterday suggested I "crop" the image to above the knees. This is another photo I took yesterday with the difference being that I moved in closer to the Model at the same zoom factor.

I was shooting at 60mm on the lens (approx 90mm on a digital camera). F = 4.0 @ 1/80 Sec ISO 200. File format = Large/Fine JPEG. In camera sharpening and contrast set to one notch above default.

One of the responders made a comment about focus. I tend to make the model's eye that is closest to me the primary focus point. It was 5:30 PM when I was working with the model and I have a feeling since I was shooting at 1/80 of a second there may have been some small camera shake in play plus the fact the face is slightly blown out may contribute to the lack of sharpness.

Anyway, here is the photo, let me know what you think. C & C always welcome.

The crop is definitely better.

One thing I'll add that I noticed in the other thread is that it's clear you're taller than her. Sometimes you want to give the feeling that the viewer is above the subject -- sometimes the other way around. I'd offer that since this model is short (I'm guessing from the look of the shot) you might want to try a few shots from her eye-level or slightly below. You'll de-emphasize her height if you shoot at her level...and you'll start to give her power in the photo if you shoot from lower. I'm not suggesting anything dramatic like that....just shoot a few at her eye level and compare.

Thanks for the tip Chuck. You are right, I am 6'2" and she is 5'4" so there is a bit of a difference. In most of the shots I did squat a bit but with all I have to remember when I am photographing a model I sometimes forget something. I generally try to photograph at least at the same level but I do forget at times but I work at bettering myself each and everytime I do a shoot. Thanks again.

Looks great. That cropping made a good deal of difference.
