The image in color does help the hand situation.

But I think her pretty face and magnificent eyes in the high key version just leave the hand as a distraction. I'd look at really cropping it down to put full attention on those eyes. Take a bit off the top and a lot of the right side, even some of the left side and let her eyes carry the image.

I'm sitting here using some pieces of paper to crop it on the screen, and I think it's great that way. But it's your image...

Perhaps if you like the cropping you could dodge the hand until it blends more into the B/G. As it is now its the tonal quality that causes it to be distracting since its the darkest part of the photo's B/G.
