Hey Everyone! Here's a couple of shots from my latest shoot with my friend Malice. As a learning photographer, I would love to hear some critiques on my work. Please feel free to be as blunt as you feel necessary.







I used my HP PhotoSmart 735 digital camera.

I think...

the first one would be better with a tighter crop, so that it's just her face.

the second one is really good as is.

the third one would be better if shot full vertical.

not bad overall, keep shooting, keep posting

#1 A tighter crop isnt gonna help because the neck is at a weird angle and the wrinkles there are always gonna be a problem. It makes her face look heavier then it is.

#2 The blur added in post kills it, but it also looks soft and muddy. Play with the original some more and try to get some detail back in her hair.

#3 is the best of the bunch. I am not sure that a vertical crop would make a difference here. I think the better choice would be to get her to the left side of the frame. Think about the rule of thirds.

Okay, I haven't gotten a chance to play around with the first one yet, but here's a couple re-edits from the last two. Thanks for the comments and suggestions thus far, everyone!

Scott's advice was on target and your changes have improved those images quite a bit! Most notably in the sipping wine pic.
