Hey guys,

Thought I'd post something up from Wednesday. Sam and I re-shot the clothes and theme (originally supposed to be 60s/70s-inspired clothes) from this set. She had dyed her hair by then, and I think because of her new look I ended up gravitating towards a darker theme. Actually I'm not really sure what the theme is now, lol. But anyways, this is Sam with her new hair. And a big dead moth on the floor.

Oh and today was my last day of class for the quarter -- woo-hoo!! Tomorrow I can sleeeeeeeep.....

I like Sam's new look, and your execution of the image.
As for the moth - there's an intriguing "bleeding" effect on the fore-most table leg that is similar to a "wet-into-wet" watercolor - it makes the whole image kind of unreal and that I find interesting. OTOH, I just don't feel drawn in by the moth - which, insofar as can be judged by the image, might be alive or not. Kind of interesting, but not your strongest work, IMO. I do like that table and the floor, though. I suggest you keep the image and try PS'ing some other object over the moth?
Happy Holidays and a pleasant break to you, Sam.

Hmm, I can see what you mean about the watercolor effect in the leg of the chair into the floor. Kinda interesting -- I didn't notice that before.

Maybe the two images just don't belong together side-by-side? I did use similar images in the final story, just not together. And yeah that's cool about PSing something else over the moth, but I'm not sure what I'd put there? I'd have to think about it...

Thanks John, I appreciate the feedback! And a very happy holidays to you too.

Here's another one from this shoot:

and a slightly more contrasty (the darks are slightly darker) version here:

For the first one I was thinking the flare kinda made it look interesting, but I'm not for sure. Or do they both suck? How's her hand positioning? Anyways, just thought I'd post.

Sorry, Sam. To my (uncalibrated and cheap) monitor and ancient eyes, there's almost no difference. I like the atmosphere, but her hand looks unnatural.

The juxtapostion of the two original images doesn't do anything for me. My (stiff and unwieldy) mind doesn't make any connection between the sultry and sensuous lips and the earthbound moth. Sorry.

Hey - have a happy holiday! I am in awe of your artistic and technical improvement.

Hmm, I can tell a difference here, but I agree it is very subtle. And I wasn't sure about the hand myself...

Crap -- can't win 'em all I guess, LOL. Someone else said the same thing, so I don't think it's just you. In a second version of the diptych I put the second image of Sam with the moth image, but I'm thinking that'd be about the same.

Thanks John, you too!! I always look forward to your comments, especially since you're pretty much the only one to critique them anymore, lol.

My first thought was, gee Sam you're a lot prettier than I thought, I think I like the second more contrasty image, it seems to have more pop, and feels like a btter image to me.

Thanks for the comments, bro. And yeah, I make a pretty hot chick, don't I??

Er, yeah, that was creepy. ANYWAYS, yeah, I think I'm liking the second one better, too.

Thanks man, happy holidays!!
