For me the skin tones are just way off.... wrecks the whole thing. If I were to get past that I would say that her hair is too messy, the pose is a little odd to me and her expression is weak.

Thanks RSStory, I like to hear the bad. Anyone else? Nitpick please!

All I get from any of my close associates is "Whoa, thats awesome" and I really need some honest evaluation to see where i can improve.

Photoshop is a great tool, but its still supposed to look like a photograph.

I agree with her expression being a little strange.

Her hair would look fine with light to make it stand out.

If its back lit then where is the light in her hair? if its not back lit why did you set the girl in a puddle?? (which would be the reason for the expression)

[grin]

The skin is not great but it may be partially because of the background. I would do it black and white and adjust the reds to get good contrast.

I think the color balance is the main problem. The pose is also a difficult one to make work because of the distortion factor that you often get with the leg extended far in front of the model.

I would be interested to know what method you are using (if any) for your white balance? Correct colour in a shot like this is fundamental if you want to maintain the viewer's attention.

Are you aware of EXPODISC or grey cards and how to use them?

Actually, I used a grey balance reflector (similar to a grey card) so the original had more realistic skin tones but I tweaked the piss out of it in photoshop.

I guess one of the main things people in here are commenting about is my liberal changing of the color values - particularly on the skin. Since it is not apparent I did this on purpose I failed to do it correctly. Also, It is clear that i need to practice getting more appealing poses out of my models.

Thanks for the comments guys, you have all given me a lot to consider for future shoots =)

I liked the color shift and I think it's clear it was deliberate. I'd also guess that you dropped the saturation -- but that might be an effect of other changes.
