Hmm well if its anything like the D200 then there is no way to completely eliminate all bits of information without pressing Enter, but there are certainly some screens that are less invasive. Again if its like the D200 you use the up and down on the multi-selector to toggle the various methods of display.

I went through and played with my D300 and was not able to completely remove everything (except the photo image obviously) from the screen. But in landscape mode (or portrait that is horizontal), the aspect ratio of the image is such that it wouldn't be able to fill in the bottom of the screen anyway unless you cropped off some of the sides. In other words, you're not losing anything by having the information on the bottom of the screen.

I have to admit though that I have turned off 'autorotation' because I want the image to use as much of that beautiful LCD as possible, so I rotate my camera in order to view the portrait type shots.

Thanks,
PTL,
Lee

Since I got the D300 the day it was released, I paid full retail ($1799). Definitely not worth the drive to Dallas ... unless you can't get the D300 in San Angelo. If you REALLY want the camera, send me a PM ... I'm driving to San Angelo Dec 22 and I might be able to bring it to ya.

Wow. She is simply breath-taking. Nice shots! The D300 is in my future some time but the D200 is working quite well. I don't have the money to play "keep up with the Joneses" and could probably live the rest of my life and do just fine with my D200 but I may upgrade at some point.

Thanks for sharing! Very nice.

Mike

Agreed. I bought my D100 in 2002 and resisted upgrading for as long as I could (it has over 300k images, and the original firmware) But, as my business grew, I found that I needed backup equipment. I started by buying backup lights first (because I could use them with my existing equipment), then got an SB-800 speedlight (allowing me to repurpose my SB-80 as a backup flash) ... and finally got the D300 (skipping the D200 temptation of last year).

All this backup equipment was a good decision because before Thanksgiving, one of my Alien Bees stopped working and two others had sync jack problems (so I returned them all for repairs) ... and, my new SB-800 stopped firing (I still don't have it back from Nikon). Really glad I have backup equipment.

Here are a few more shots from my learning (experimentation) with the D300. Studio shots lit with three Alien Bees. Outside shot lit with my SB-80DX

Marty,

Thanks for the offer, though I probably wont get it till Feb. Right now I'm trying to buy mono lights again.

I'm really liking those images! gorgeous girl, my compliments to you and her.

Coming to San Angelo? passing thru or staying? If you're staying then you should know there's nothing here. Feel free to hit me up. 325-374-9570
