Thanks to all for your comments. They're very helpful.

Will she model for you some more?
Yeah, I think so, and you all are right. This was her first time so she was a little bit tense.

Was your brother-in-law in the room with you two? If so
Yep, That's part of the problem. She was thinking more in her boy than listening to my counsels.

With other clients I don't usually permit friends to stay in the studio, but with my family I had no choice

I'm going to agree with the fact that it is indeed a well lit photograph.
Well done, mate.

I am also going to agree with the fact that her pose seems a bit "tense".

Other than that, I'd say you did well!

Good shooting!

Someone has mentioned taht you should very the lighting a bit.

I am constantly struggling with very dark wardrobe and dark hair in front of while backgrounds.

So the result on this shot and many of mine is a lack of detail or DEAD BACK SPOTs in the darker areas. For example this girl has a shirt with cuffs on and the dark top has quite a bit if defnition that has been lost in the contrast with the background.

Obviously one solution is more light on the black or darker areas and less on the white background but how you accomplish this will depend on your equipement.

This is not easy and takes a lto fo practice and for some luck - but it will improve this type of shot
