Hey Jim,

Nice shot. To improve it, IMHO, I would straighten the image so the column is more vertical and clone out the electrical access on the column - it is distracting.

I'd suggest a tighter crop above her head, and the shadow from her chin is just a little distracting, but can that sort of thing really be avoided when shooting in daylight ?
And personally I don't like lip rings, so I would have cloned that out.

Nice snapshot. But it has many of the basic problems that one gets in typical snapshots. The background is pretty sharp and tends to dominate the scene with the massive column growing up out of the subjects head. The tonal range of the background tends to overwhelm the model. The teeth look funny (does she have braces - if so, mouth should be closed for these sorts of shots). Lip rings often cast funny shadows when one is using this sort of hard lighting. In direct sunlight, you're often better off to find a shaded area, and then use fill flash to get a more evenly lit shot. Placement of the hands makes them too prominent, especially the hand on the left. Generally you don't want the full back of the hand to show. Also she seems to be slouching back or leaning which throws the balance of the picture off.
