I kinda fell into this job... had fun with it... client loved her photos, purchased about 18 of them in two leather bound albums. I typically shoot kids and weddings so this was a bit out of the ordinary and I have a LOT to learn... but I had fun with it and the client enjoyed her time.

She is a woman going through a rough divorce (for the past couple years) and her boyfriend got tired of waiting for the divorce (not sure exactly what's going on there, but none of my business), he (her b/f) is in Australia right now and she's sending these photos to him to remind him who's boss I guess.

Anyway, let me know what I can do in the future to improve... I think this will improve my typical portrait work too, to be honest... I'm lovin' this stuff. I shot everything with a D200, 85mm f/1.4D and Nikon SB-800 & SB-600 speedlights with either a silver/black or optical white umbrellas or with a cardboard snoot fired by CLS (Blech).

This last one I'm having some trouble with... I fired in the main thru a 10-12" snoot... It looks a bit amateurish to me, I was after an early Hollywood glamour style shot. The client LOVED it, but I think there's something missing. Perhaps if I had of had a small softbox to work with and worked with the light closer I could have still got the desired effect. I was definitely after hard shadows with almost a diffused light on her face and upper body... Also the pose is lacking a little here in the arms and face to me... Any ideas or further critiques would be appreciated.

Thanks!

One thought... in #1 the hand appears awkward, and the knuckle especially, but I really like the mood and lighting of it.

@GreyGhost: Thank-you much!

@Ben: Yea I thought so when we were shooting it too... I tried a few different changes but just couldn't get something I was satisfied with, this was kind of a compromise to keep things going and not halt on that forever... But you're right, it doesn't look right... Any suggestions?

@Doc: Yes, I agree--thank-you!

Great looking model! I would be interested in seeing how the original color shots came out... and why you converted them to B&W...

Doc

I'll post the colors ASAP... The client wanted B&W for one and much of my work is B&W... No real good reason other than that.
