Here is the same photo that was output in three different ways for the web (using Photoshop CS2). Which do you like best? Why? Do you find problems with any of the three images?

Thanks for any feedback!

PS: Because the photo is wider than usual to put all 3 side by side, you'll have to scroll over to the right to find the Reply buttons.

Cheers,
rfs

I like number 3. It is just a very slight bit better looking in detail..

sorry I cannot help you out, they all look just about the same on my monitor. I would like to know how you do a screen capture? if you would be so kind to share.

Going with 2.5 here ... lol

I like 3, but would like to see it sharpened just a teeny tad less (but not as less as 2, if that makes sense).

I use a product called Snagit:

http://www.techsmith.com/snagit.asp

for screen captures. It also allows all sorts of annotations such as text, arrows, stamps, callouts, highlighting, etc. And its totally live, in that you can re-select and edit any of the annotations you make. I have it attached to my Print Screen Key, so just a single keystroke pops up a special cursor which allows me to select any area of the screen. But there are dozens of other selection methods. You can even select more than can be seen of a screen (that scrolls).

Cheers,
rfs

Fred,
I like number 2 the best. Number 1seems a little under sharpened and 3 seems a little over sharpened. But number 2 is just right on my monitor.

Number 3, it has the sharpest detail and, to my eye, the best contrast.

#2 is definitely the better of the three, for me. If you look at the model's lower-right (left from photographer's view) eyelid, #'s 1 and 3 show more artifacts. #2 is the least noisy, probably due to better dithering.

2 is good. The problem with 3 is the oversharpening. If you layer 3 over 2 and erase the mouth area, as that is what really gives it away, then you could have yourself an awesome image with the best of both worlds

Definitely #3. Color pops more and it is the least soft of the 3.

Cheers,
