I think the 2nd one is really nice. To make it better, I'd try not cutting off the top of her head.

The first one isn't as good. Most people don't photograph well straight on. Try turning her a little, it'll thin the body.

Personally I prefer a close cropping of the head, I might even go for more. What makes it seem awkward in this shot (IMO) is that the head is close cropped yet the photo is fairly wide. Maybe try recropping the photo entirely, keeping the top the same but coming in on the sides and, especially, the bottom. The thing that strikes me the most is her expression, it seems as if she's really just tolerating you taking her picture. On the plus side, I think it is a well exposed shot and you lit the background well. Nice coloring. I would try to photograph this model again.

I think if she is over 50/55 she could be reasonably pleased if she is younger she will not be pleased at all. A lot of softening and blending of the skintone is reguired as it appears mottled to me. I woudl try a softer less contrast approach and include the cropped off protions of the head if she did her hair well enogh to include it. A bit of attention to the hair before shooting would have helped ni this area.

Pretty woman. Try a little dodge and burn on the skin, then add a gaussian blur (go easy here) to soften the image, but keep the eyes sharp. You might experiment with adding a little "photoshop makeup" to highlight the face in places (again, go easy here). Dump the straight on shot--it makes her look broad shouldered and flat chested.
