Here is one of the shots from this weeks session. I know I cut off a toe. Do the angles in the shot work? This is a bit different for me, as most of my images are fairly straight on. Working on getting the lines to bring you to the face of the subject. Hopefully I'm learning something here ( always the chance im still wrong )

Would appreciate your crituque / comments.

Thanks,
Dean

seems a little too extreme of an angle to me,
the line of the leg brings my eye to the face
BUT her arm kept me going right out the bottom of the frame

For me, the angle is a little too steep. Do you have any other images from the shoot you can steal a toe from?

I wish I had. Looking at the other images, I did the same thing. I do have some others that are cropped a bit different and dont show the feet.

Thanks for looking

Thank for the comments. Would it have been better to have the arm go off straight, in other words, have from the elbow to fingers following parrell to the bottom of the image? What would you recommend here?

When you say too extreme of an angle, am I right in thinking you mean the camera angle, as in I was shooting too high, or the fact the camera was setting around 45 degrees instead of 90 degrees. Havent worked much with this type of an image so I'm asking alot of questions.

Thanks,
Dean

having her arm parallel the bottom should have worked to keep your eye in the frame
OR if you had more sheet below the arm maybe my eye would 'stop' and go back up ?

in my non professional opinion , I guess I meant the tilt of the camera makes it look like she is to far off level, as for the height of the camera - looks OK

is that any clearer

of course now that I look at it , have you tried to rotate the whole image 90 degrees clockwise, her head would be upright and still kinda works

Here is another shot with out the camera tilt. Wouldnt ya know it, got all the toes and chopped the elbow
The arm doesnt follow the bottom, but does it hold your eye any better? Still kinda leads you out of the frame on the side, but I think this one might be a little better. Will keep working on it. Appreciate the comments.

Mucho Better!!!! I havent figure out the "Dutch Angle" either...so Im not a real big fan of it anyway.... nice loop lighting...and the contrast is looking much better!! Now all you have to do is keep your lovely model happy and ready to practice for you...I've found begging and pleading doesnt work all that well..
Shiny sparkly things seems to work better!!

Because of her pose and position on the bed it might have worked a little better as a horizontal picture rather than vertical. Maybe some added props in the background as well since it would appear to have empty book shelves behind her.

Thanks Don, slowly but surely we're getting better. Worked only with the modeling lights last night. Still learning to look for the shadows. The first one looked neat, but your right, figuring out what angle to use will take some time. Rekkon I will work on tht when I get the other stuff right.....at this rate, might be a while

Shiny sparkly things....hmm thats what I've been missing
