I love the image and the hat! Perfect for our line of work. Do you mind showing us how you set it up? I am working with lighting and also how to capture my Jewelry in the same photo.

This is a simple setup as you can see in the photo of the light set made a littler earlier in the session in which the hat was shot:



She is wearing the arm bracelet that you see in the hat shot. Once the hat is on, you may need to have the model tilt her head to get light under the brim or you can also use a reflector held about waist level.

You have to watch your exposure with a black hat since it will blend into the background. I actually processed the RAW image of this photo twice, then combined them so I could artificially get some separation. The other way is to use a hair light when shooting. This is an example of a similar shot but with a hair light:
