This is Maggie from last Saturday. One light.

What's on your mind other than the image is small.

It has a warm feeling to it
nice black on black (even being small I can see the hair and fabric textures)
Better than anything I could do with one light

But I keep getting drawn to two things
#1 is the fabric cutting across her right leg
#2 is the curve of her throat ??

I'd like to see more seperation between the model and the background...and the leg thing too.

Rick, I assume this was an experiment or a "fool around" session - because it just isn't up to the standard set by the balance of your body of work.

I really can't tell what you were going for here...While she's lit well, I agree with others that her wardrobe piece disappears into the background. If that's the intent, there's too much light directly on her for her to disappear into the shadows.

Conversely, there isn't enough light to separate her from the set. It's difficult for me to see the fabric on her right leg.

And I've done it too...And you called me on it.

... women and black satin make for a good environment to perfect lighting techniques.

Don:

I think you're right. I should have used a background light to seperate her more.

Stan:

The fabric across her leg was intentional and I was hoping that the sheen of the satin would be a good seperator.

Maybe if her head was turned to the right a little more it wouldn't look as long.

Steve:

I must think background light when shooting black on black.

Jon:

I was trying out a new light modifier and just wasn't thinking about black/black/black. I deserve the payback there brother. Thanks for keeping me on my toes. Check back on the 27th when I redo this shot.
