Very nice image. Love the detail in the eyes. Skin tones are nice and smooth, and not overdone. Just curious, what did you mean by b/w conversions, I just use b/w film, lol.

That is a wonderful picture. I am pulled to the eyes and the crispness of the image. I am interested in the BW conversion comment as well. Great Work.

Very nicely done conversion in my view.

Would be willing to share your technique?

And yes... those eyes are captivating!

This was a digital color image, that I changed to BW. Always seem to have problems getting that conversion right.

Thanks for the compliments.

ok, will try...

1. Open color photo
2. Image menu, Mode, convert to lab color
3.Channels Palette, click on the lightness channel. Photo now looks grayscale
4.Image menu mode grayscale
5. go to layers palette click on background then control-j dup background layer
6. Switch blend mode to multiply
7. Image will look very dark
8. Just lower the opacity to get the image where you want

Good luck

Beautiful shot. Just wanted to say if you do a lot of portrait type conversions have you ever tried convert to BW pro from the imaging factory?

I use it ALL the time. It gives you complete control over the process. You can do all kinds of looks with it way faster than lab color and all that. You can do a thirty day trial, it's like a hundred bucks for the PS plug-in, worth every penny on even a medium sized portrait job.

All the BW stuff on my web site was converted from color with that plug in.

Again, that's a beautiful picture.

The eyes look significantly sharper that the rest of the face. Enough so that it was distracting for me. JMO
Great work on the conversion, and thanks for sharing your technique.

Nice work. I like your conversion. I am assuming you did selective sharpening and only sharpened the eyes which I think works for this photograph, but I would also have sharped the hair and lips as well
