I began 2006 by announcing that I would no longer offer TFCD shoots. To celebrate my decision, I offered a "TFCD Blowout" -- one final week of TFCD shoots. I booked 12 models, 10 showed up (not a bad percentage).

it was a win-win week ... we all got some nice images, I met some new models ... and I got to try out my new 70-200 f2.8 VR lens and some new lighting techniques! All in all, it was a great week!

The collage below contains just some of the many images from last week.

Wow. What a way to start the year. Great job as usual. Congrats on the new lens. I have a 70-200 2.8 that I love but I don't have the VR :-( . I'll bet it is awesome.

BTW: Speaking of gear, I just got the new JVC GY-HD100U and a brand new dual Mac HD editing system. If your friend hasn't gotten his yet, you can tell him to get it. It is a fantastic camera. The new Final Cut Studio plays really nicely with it. I can't beleive the technology jump in the last year.

Now that I've crossed those things off the list, I can start looking into that D200. If they will ever stay on a shelf anywhere.

On the plus side ... the results speak for themselves ... it's a fantastic piece of glass, very fast, smooth and easy to handle. I love the shallow depth of field.

On the minus side ... I'm now standing about 10 to 12 feet from my models and miss the intimacy my 24-120 gave me. I'm also going to need a longer sync cord (or Pocket Wizard) for my stobes ... and I'll probably need a larger camera bag ... and I'll need to start working out my arm muscles if I plan to hold that lens up for a six hour shoot.

Just be careful when you do your first shoot with that big daddy lens ... I stood in the same place I usually stand, held the lens up for the first time ... and all I could see were nose hairs and nipples!

Hello marty,
I love that lens too, I use it a lot, far superior to the 24-120vr which I got rid of because it just wasn't sharp.
It's a lot of kit to carry around, but I got use to it and I'm almost always glad I brought it along when I go out.

For a second, I thought you were speaking about shooting percentage. But in light of the post content, very nice work.
