Jessica also wanted to do some fitness shots. This is what I came up with. What do you think?

I agree there has to be greater definition displayed through the carefull adjustment of light and the models pose. She should also be tensing in order to provide some definition.

Here is an example of what i am talking about even though i am not happy with this specific shot - themodel is doing all she can to live up to her end.

just my 2 cents, its a good shot but for fitness you want to get a little pop in the picture. Never use flat lighting and A little baby oil or lotion goes a long way in bring out more lines and defenition. Just my opinion for what ever thats worth.

Your lighting is good, it's hard to show definition (if that's the goal) when shooting in a semi-high-key mode. Play with angles and ratios and background colors and see what you come up with.

First shot is four lights, second shot is two, third shot is one.

I guess it all depends on your idea of "fitness" and how you want to portray that. Jessica isn't one of these 1% body fat workout fanatics. She's a very well fit and beautiful lady. My goal was to show "tone" not make her look musclebound. You're certainly right; I should have use a bit more directional lighting to show off that tone a bit more.

Brian, I have enjoyed many of your images, posted here. This one is just not up to your standards. The light is flat, the model is almost lifeless, and appears bored.

Put some pop, and life back in those images...

Thanks

Shadow
