528 views an not one comment...a sad commentary for a photography forum thats supposed to help people create good images.

first off let me start out by saying that her face looks more like a painting that it does a photograph. you might want to back off the photoshop a bit.
as far as the lighting....looks like you have somewhat of a butterfly lighting going here...you may want to try moving your main light at more of an angel to create some shadows I think this will help in slimming down the face a bit.
as far as the model goes way is she so sad to have her photo taken? have her smile for starters then work on expressions.

I apologize to you that no one wanted or bothered to take the time to comment on your work. Keep posting and keep shooting. you wont learn if you dont hear what anyone tells you.

Don.

From a photographic perspective you did a good job. The lighting is nice, you did a good job with the background light, etc. The problem with this photo is with the model. First, as noted, she looks pissed. Against a sheet of seamless, there's no reason for that to be the case. Second, she's looking down at an angle that has created a fold of skin on her neck, almost like a double chin. And with a round face, the hair style make her look heavier than she really is, since it accentuates the roundness in her face.

We cannot fault a model for anything that happens on her first shoot. We, as photographers, take the exposure and are responsible for the capture. As noted, a few rules were broken, but I am mostly troubles by your placement of her lower arms and hands. The thumbs look masculine in this position. I am sure she is a sweet lady and I hope you show more from the session.

Jim

I'm fairly new to all this, but in my opinion, she is looking boy tom boyish than anything else. If your portraying her masculine side, I think you did it.
As someone else had replied, it does look as though you PS'd the face way too much, as it looks almost plastic like to me. Hey, I've done the same thing before.
I would like to see what she looks like with a softer way or fun way about her.

I am surprised you've had so few comments here.

Good Luck and keep shooting.

The BG light if cool and the pose is good, but some expression would be nice. ALso what Fantasiesimage said, move that key/main light to create some shadow/mood. Maybe you only have two lights? If so the image works for what you have. (i brought up lights because i'm getting a 3rd soon, can't wait!)

Thanks everyone for your comments. I will definitely take them into consideration for upcoming shoots.

Lighting on her face is very flat, I know. Surprisingly, I didn't PS her face at all. Yes, the pose is very masculine.

I will work on these issues.

Thanks again
