Texas is a great place to live and photograph women, but it can get down right hot (even in the winter). And, it get's even hotter in front of the fireplace. To get this shot of Lacy, I used one 36x42 softbox with 40-degree egg crate grid on my Alien Bee, and I put the other Alien Bee in the fireplace, pointed at some crinkled aluminum foil and covered in an amber gel. Tada - Fake Fire!

Nice job! I like it. Is the highlight on her breast PS or from the strobe? I find my boxes don't give me much of that on skin unless it's wet.

No PS tricks. The softbox is camera left, and about 30" from her -- she had some glitter lotion on her skin (and on my carpet) -- and I pumped up the saturation and contrast a bit in Photoshop.

Here's another from that session.

Wow. I really like these. I'd be interested in hearing/seeing more about the fake fire.

Very nice.

Congratulations! You've invented fire! haha

Seriously, I really love #2. Both the fire and the model look amazing. Very well done.

Another model, another fake fire. For this shot of Britany I used my old SB-15 flashhead in the fireplace and triggered it with an $15 optical slave.

I know a LOT of cheap tricks and would love to share them over a cup of coffee with any photographers in the area.

Real fire doesn't pose very well.
