The lighting is basically uneven and has produced hot spot on the tip of the nose which sort of looks odd. The contrast is flat. I'd make the image brighter and more contrasty and I'd use a large softbox to soften the shadows on the face.

Lighting from beneath the subject casts shadows on the face that aren't attractive. Try raising the light source above the subject's eyes. The pattern in the background is also distracting; I'd suggest something either solid, or further out of focus.

well, i wouldn't say that lighting from below is always unattractive. for a while now, i've been lighting from below for a fair number of shots and i like it! here's a few examples.

Well, sure...Jimmy. But you clearly have fill light(s) to soften the shadows; this doesn't exist in the original image.

1. Raise your main light. It's coming in from below and that is not flattering and a horror lighting scheme.

2. Add a hair light to seperate her from the background.

3. Different pose as this seems to give a hunchback effect to her shoulders.
