I'm working on a project to feature some jewelry. This shot is just a test of the lightning I want to use.

I realize the light is a little hot on the right side of the models face but I want to have the right ear which will have the big honker diamond in to stand out. I had to settle for my wifes small 1/3 ct tanzanites for now.

Any comments as to if this will work or does some one have a better suggestion.

Thanks

My 2 cents worth: The lighting should be fine but you dont want the model to detract from the jewlery. If you are doing the shoot for the earing, you might want to get close up of the earing. if you are trying to showcase a product you dont want anything to draw the viewers attention away from the product. just my opinion after being told this same thing at my first product shoot for a jewelery designer here in San Antonio. Good luck with the project.

Decrease the hot side by about a stop, use a focusing flashlight to highlight the ear.
