Ok so I finally put up some of my latest work. Let me know what you think. Be honest but remember that I've been doing photography for only a year and I am completely self taught. I want to know if this little hobby of mine is worth pursuing(I normally do MU/Hair at shoots) and what I need to do to improve. Thanks for comments/critques! No photo is showing up. It looks like your trying to hotlink from another site and that doesn't always work. I tried looking at the photo on that site but it appears to be very small and so dark I couldn't see anything. It is very difficult to critique a photo that doesn't show up. The best thing to do is to upload the photo to your GG portfolio and then use the Portfolio command below the box you type your post in to add the photo to the post.

Cheers,
rfs

I think the photos have potential. There are some compositional and lighting problems, but with time, I think you can work those out. #4 is too dark and lacks enough contrast. #1 has the horizon line going through the head which is usually not a good idea. I like #2 the best, but the lighting is a bit hot and you have yellowish cast around the eye area. Also, #2 is cropped a bit too tightly. #3 is the second best shot and I think the best composed of the bunch. #5 is not a very good pose and the eyes look odd somehow because of they position.

thanks for the feedback! I do like #2. I must confess, the yellow around the eyes was gold paint that I later decided to photoshop out (still working on learning that as well)since the location we were shooting at was soooo bright. As far as the lighting for that pic, it was actually natural light, no reflector. Maybe I could tweek the color in photoshop? I wasn't sure if I'd be doing a boo-boo by making it a little darker. It's good to know that I'm not just wasting my time with taking pictures. I swear I ABSOLUTELY LOVE GG and the folks that frequent it!

xoxo,
maJOY
