So, a long-time lurker finally surfacing with a post. After spending 3 awesome days shooting with a great (and patient) friend, I finally have a pic or two to post.

So, let the beatings begin!

Thoughts, comments, suggestions?

Good job on this photo. I would suggest turning her left arm so it doesn't appear so wide near the top, and there is the hot spot on her shoulder.

Thanks, Josh. And now that you mention her arm, I noticed the funny Z-shape of her thumb.

This was the first modeling shoot for both of us, and I think she was overly concerned about keeping her fingers at least perpindicular to the camera. As for the hotspot on her shoulder, I think I might have had the strobe (with gold umbrella) pointed too directly at her.

Welcome out of lurker status...

First...you have to get your model away from the backdrop. Her left arm....The elbow is locked and the fingers on her hand all look like they are broken. And, the bulge in her tricep area is because she is putting weight on that arm. Bend the elbow a little and have her try to not put much if any weight on the arm and that will help alot. The expression on her face is one of boredom or something and is just not working at all for me. Reverse the leg positions. Pull the back leg up and lay the front one down so we can see her right arm. You are headed in the right direction here. Keep on shooting and sharing.

Scott

Hi Scott,

I wasn't happy with the short distance to the background either. We did that so I could keep her as much in the backdrop as possible.

Model Height: 5' 9"
Backdrop width: 6' 3"
PS Clone / Heal brushing the upper corners of the image to hide my garage door: Priceless

Great tips on the posing, I'll be sure to pass them on. I'm also going to print out Rolando's article on Smile (http://www.garageglamour.com/tips/smile.php). As for the legs and arm, I did think about what to do the get her hand visible, I can't believe I didn't think about reversing the legs.

Oh, in your pic, would having that lantern lit been an option? or would it have been distracting and superfluous?

Thanks for your review and comments,
Glenn
