No, not a model with a knife... just the knife. I thought I would post this since this is the first thing I shot in almost six weeks. I was about to go a little crazy. Anyways, I took one of my favorite pieces in my collection -- a tanto-style knife made by John Greco (not to be confused with John PAUL Greco, whom we all know and love ) -- and tried to accentuate its smooth lines and subtle curves. I thought it was kinda interesting how, when seen this way, the lines of a Japanese-style knife reminded me of the look of their written language, in a way.
For anyone wondering, I didn't use any PS on these, other than saving for the web.
The first two were shot with a 5º grid to the left and slightly behind the knife (just moved up or down to highlight different areas), and a 20º grid was to my immediate left and feathered to the right to just catch the highlight on the blade edge. For the last one I replaced the 5º grid with a Cinefoil snoot, closed tightly to catch only the slightest hint of that edge. Or that was the idea, anyway. Well, I know it ain't glamour, but any comments good and bad would be great.
