Would love to have some constructive critisim from all you pros out there. My model is not a pro, but a family member who doesn't mind helping me out when I want to try new things. I think she's getting better though.

Shot with a Canon 20D

1 Alien Bee 400, 7" reflector only.
1/200 @ f/4.0 and ISO 100, with custom temp set to 6000K

Get a piece of white posterboard or something to bounce a little light onto the shadow side, and I think you will really have something.

I thought so too. I was shooting for heavy shadows on camera left, but not quite as bad as they turned out. But my only assistant was a 4 month old (belonging to the model ) Didn't want to use my second strobe, cuz I thought it would be too much.

Dont let em fool ya... This was shot with one JTL versalight 200 and a 7" reflector. Nothing else to bounce light anywhere. Nothing to diffuse it.
The light was about 9ft high and about 4 feet to camera left. and pointed down right at the model. ISO 100 1/125th at F11

Light is the problem here.
Look at the eyes and notice that there are no catchlights, this will make a picture look dull, add some catchlights by positioning your model towards the light, or use indeed a reflector.

Greetings,
Frank
