Hi,

I've just worked out a new image. I wanted to get an old photo look.
Comments welcome.

Yours,

Charles

To me it looks like a bad scan of an old image in really bad condition. If that is the look you wanted then I would say you got it.

The grain effect looks like noise or static rather than grain first of all. Second, many old photos, even color, were taken on medium format cameras which reduces grain. They also used slower films than we currently have today but the grain structures were't as tight so that's sort of a wash. There was more likely to be camera shake or subject movement than great gobs of grain because of the slow film speed. Take a look at this shot (I know, not glamour, but a good example of high speed color photo):

It was taken with Fuji press 1600 film. The only grain is in the less detailed, out of focus areas. Grain is tricky to replicate, especially color grain. Other than that I like the color cast, not so much the blue, but color film does get warmer as it ages. The picture is neat, just watch he horizon line.

It's a good photo, however, it does not reflect the look of of an "old look nude". First, as already suggested, it should be in black and white. Second, there is too much grain... even "old school" was not that grainy (however, the image posted as an example was too sharp to be considered as a good example of "old school"). And, finally, "old school" nudes were not so "comfortable" in their images.

Go for something in black and white... just a little grain... and have the model posing "coy", not seductive.

I can dig it. I dunno if I get an old-photo feel from it or not, but I do, however, get a voyeuristic feel from it, which in itself is kinda cool. What film did you use here? It looks like a color negative film, pushed, would be my guess...
