Photos like this are hard to comment on. Its a pretty girl obviously posing for the camera even though she's supposed to be sleeping, I suppose. The shot is just too posed to come off as what the closed eyes might suggest. Here is an example of a shot where I wanted it to appear that the model was asleep:

Cheers,

Thanks, I suppose you are right, she's not actually meant to be sleeping but I can see why it looks that way.

I just liked the angle and was wondering more about improving the composition. I am playing with many techniques and will post a new effort soon.

Thanks again.

You're on the right track. The lighting is good, as is the pose and certainly the model. The problem I see is with your choice of lens, it was a little too short to be used with that angle and pose. Take a look at the relative sizes of her left arm and left leg. The lens, being a little too wide, caused a problem with forshortening, it caused what is closer to th lens to appear larger and whatever is more distant, to appear smaller. Next time try to use a somewhat longer lens, or a pose in which the limbs are close to being on the same plane as the lens to prevent that sort of thing. Had your camera position been more centered in relation to her torso, that forshortening would have minimized.

As someone once siad, this ain;t rocket science, but it's also not easy. Like I said, you are on the right track, so try again!

As Doug said, you are on the right track. I feel though that the lighting is a little flat. One tip I feel is important is to watch all the little things. For instance the model's left hand - it looks too bent to me. And straps. not that there are any problems in this shot, but I hate it when I take a good shot and then notice that a strap is twisted.

But again, you're on the right track.

Mark,

I agree with you and doug.. but I think that it isnt a twisted strap.. I think that on the shoulder strap, that blob/thicker area, is actually that gizmo that women use to adjust the strap.. its plastic or metal, and it works like the thingy on a shoulder strap to make it longer or shorter.

but that is just my uninformed opinion..
