Model is Piret, originally from Estonia. I'm lucky enough that she now lives in Seattle.
MUA was Michael McCarthy. Michael is A MUA for the Seattle Opera. His attention to detail is amazing.

Blast away.

Well by the normal rule of thirds, this photo has some problems. The eyes are too high toward the top of the frame. And that tends to draw one out of the photo. There are a few shiny spots on the face that the makeup didn't quite work on (these could be retouched in PS easily). In general I don't care for this sort of cropping because it tends to say that the cropping of the photo is more important than the subject, as if the cropping is saying, "here look at how clever I'm cropped". I don't know if I'm making that clear or not, but that is my subjective reaction.

Cheers,
rfs

Darrell,

The make-up is very good and the lighting is nice and soft. Your model appears to have great skin, beautiful eyes, and fabulous lips; however, I am very confused by your choice of shooting angle. It doesn't really flatter any of her positive traits. This angle shows off her neck and gives one a great peek up her nostrils. If your intent is to make a flattering portrait, I would have choosen another angle.

Do you have others from your session with her?

Aloha from Hawaii,
Michael

I've been looking at this photo for a while now, trying to figure it out... First off, if you don't mind me saying so, your name over the ghosted white bar is a bit distracting... Sorry, but it's hard for me to get past it to see the real image underneath...

Hey, is she laying down in water?? I'll bet I'm the only one who just now finally figured that out. ANYWAYS, enough of me showing off how slow I am...

I'm still trying to figure out if I like the placement of her face in the frame there or not... If you don't mind me asking, what was your intent here? It might help me decide.

Either way, it kept me looking at it, so isn't that alone a sign of a successful image?

Sam

I agree as to what has already been said. To me, it is a little too much up the nose.

"an uncomfortable angle makes the viewer uncomfortable as well."
